Statement Regarding Incident Near Denning Elementary School

The following is an update on the situation earlier this morning that caused Denning Elementary School to observe "Secure" protocol.

From 168-Denning was in Secure mode for 20 min. due to a report of gun in neighborhood. All are safe.
Ms. Heather was nominated for September's MVP staff member!
Ms. Heather goes above and beyond for our students and staff here at Denning. We see her all over the building doing a great job. She jumps right in where she is needed, and a lot of times without being asked.
Ms. Heather works alongside so many of our students every day. We are very thankful and appreciated of everything Ms. Heather is doing. Her work doesn't go unnoticed. Congratulations, from your Denning Family!

-Bird Brag (Mrs. Molly's Class)
-Bird Brag (Mrs. Tyler's Class)

Mrs. Jaye Palmer came out of retirement today to share with 2nd grade an interactive song and a gummy bear game. The students were much better at guessing their gummy bears than the teachers! She also reminded us that we should all be sweet on the inside just like a gummy bear!

Wow!!! Our students are going above and beyond! Three more Bird Brags.
We are so proud of each and every one of them.
Helping those who need a little boost and confidence or making a goal and achieving it! Way to go little birds!

A few days late.
How about our perfect attendance winners for the week.
We have weekly drawings for attendance incentives for those who are present all week.
Each quarter we will draw for a "big" prize for a special someone.

2nd grade would like to send a big thank you to to Marla Glodich and Nick Norovich from Banterra Bank! They shared with us about their jobs as bank managers, how our money stays safe at the bank, and why it is important to save. They left us some great information about banking and of course suckers!

We are close to our goal! Help our school out with our fall fundraiser.
This fundraiser helps with many activities throughout the year.
We use our funding to be able to go on field trips, classroom incentives, attendance prizes and more.

Early Dismissal

Let's give Liam a shoutout. Liam is the first student this year to get a "Bird Brag"
Liam helped a first grade student without being asked. The other student dropped his water bottle and Liam went over to help clean up the mess.
You deserve a "Bird Brag" for sure.

DENNING

We can't believe we are halfway through the first quarter! At DES, students are ready for a great year. 🙌🏼
