100 Dys of School

Attendance Policy
While it's sometimes unavoidable, consistent attendance is an
an important part of the learning process. We would encourage you to
have your child in school as much as possible.
What does research on student attendance say?
A chronically absent student misses 10% of the school year, or about 18 days.
Nationwide chronic absenteeism has doubled since COVID 19 to over 14 million students.
Students who are chronically absent are at greater risk for NOT reading on grade level by 3rd grade.
What is the school’s policy on attendance? (See FCUSD 168 Handbook)
All absences must be called in to the school office.
Parents or guardians can call the school office to excuse their child from school up to 5 days per semester, or up to 10 days per school year for any reason.
After call-in days are used each semester, a doctor’s note is required to excuse an absence.
FCUSD 168 Attendance Liaison:
After 2 absences, you will receive a call and/or email.
After 4 absences, you will receive a letter.
After 6 absences, you will be referred to the Regional Office of Education.
How does DES recognize student attendance?
Weekly-Students with perfect or improved attendance will be recognized on school-wide morning announcements and will earn a “mystery” prize.
Monthly-Students with perfect attendance will be recognized at our school-wide monthly assembly and will receive 50 DES Bird Bucks to spend at our school store (Redbirdmart).
Quarterly-Students with perfect attendance will be placed in a school-wide drawing for large give-aways.

Holiday Dress up days

Thank you to the FCSD for the generous donations.
They were able to donate several coats to kids in need here at Denning.
We appreciate all the help during the Holiday Season.

Thank you Valerie and Jennifer Reed with Wani's Warriors for sharing with us about the importance of giving. Their organization sponsors countless activities in our community and is a great demonstration of community service. Denning School students also donated over 70 canned goods and 50 gravy packets to donate to a local food pantry. Way to go kiddos!
