American Heart Association
Have you met heart hero, Finn? He’s sharing Finn’s Mission so we can all
help kids with special hearts –- kids like him! He’s also set a goal to get as
many families as possible to learn about heart health and the lifesaving
skill of Hands-Only CPR. You can help by taking Finn’s Mission. When
your student completes all the missions, they’ll earn Lifesavers Cape!

Denning School kicked off our American Heart Association games and mission today.
Ms. Sherie came and talked to our students all about what it takes to have a healthy heart. We talked a lot about Finn's Mission. You will find a flyer posted in this chat and your child also had one sent home with them today.
We had two students already complete Finn's Mission over the weekend.
Ms. Elliona and Ms. Loril. ❤️
You can help your child learn more when they sign up to be a heart hero. It's simple!
Go to the Heart Association website, find our school and login. You can opt out of the photo section and still complete Finn's Mission! We can do this. Let's get started!!!

A Follow-Up from Frankfort CUSD #168: After talking with and reassuring some students in the bus lines about this afternoon's brief hold/soft lockdown, please reassure them as they get home that they were safe at all times. The person of interest, who was walking on the northeast side of town near Bryan Street and an old school, was quickly apprehended by the WFPD. After further investigation, he was carrying a "look-a-like" weapon and not a real one. We again thank the alert individuals of the public who alerted us immediately so that we can reach out to law enforcement to make that determination. It takes all of us to keep our students and schools safe. Enjoy the rest of your day.

From Frankfort CUSD #168: Within the last 10 minutes, our schools were briefly put into a "Hold" or soft lockdown status as there were reports of an individual walking down the street on the northwest side of town carrying a long gun. WFPD have apprehended the individual and we are now back to normal, "All Clear" operations and will keep our regular dismissal time.. Thanks go to the alert individuals who reported the incident.

From FCUSD 168: Due to a delay for further research, we have now posted the FAQs from the held at CJHS on Thursday, February 27, 2025. As previously mentioned, there is now a button on the home pages so that all of the documents could be accessed in one easy step. You can read more on the News feed on the website at https://www.wfschools.org/. Thank you again for your interest in these topics.

Frankfort CUSD #168 notes the passing of Miss Allis Hays, a 1940 graduate of FCHS who, with her identical twin sister Phyllis taught kindergarten at West Frankfort schools from the early 1940s until 1983, passed away February 28 at age 102. Several generations of students had Miss Allis to start their school career.
She and her sister continue to serve their community in the years since their retirement. They helped sponsor a scholarship for FCHS students going into the field of education for over 20 years. Miss Allis Hays left a long and positive legacy for both her students and her fellow teachers. May we all work to meet the standards that she and her late sister set.
Visitation beings at 10 and services are at 11 on Saturday morning, March 8 from at the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort. Arrangements are through Union Funeral Home.

Fun Friday here at Denning!
March Madness minute to win it games were a hit. The kids loved to join in on all the games. Mummy wrap, junk in the trunk, and movin on up games were just a few of those played.
