September is NICU awareness month! The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is something that many (myself included) have utilized during the birth of our babies. The Ronald Mcdonald House Charities are a home away from home for many families who are trying to stay close to their babies while they're in the NICU. You might have rounded up in the McDonald's drive- through, but have never really heard from someone who has stayed in one during a difficult time. The Ronald McDonald House provides a place to stay, hot meals, washers, dryers, showers, snacks, and more to hundreds of families every year. Our closest one is in St. Louis and I'd love to have our community partner with RMHC of St. Louis.
Here's what you can do: click this link and donate items that will be shipped directly to the RMHC in St. Louis (put DES in the notes section and we will see how many donations our community provides), turn in soda tabs to your child's teacher, or round up the next time you hit the McDonald's drive-through. Our Redbird Basket raffle winner was Jodi Woolard! Congratulations 🎉 FFA brought popsicles to our kinders today. They sure enjoyed them. Thank you to Mr. Billingsly and the students who dropped by today.

Wednesday September 18th- Progress Reports being sent home
Thursday September 19th- DES going to football field for the pep rally. Also, it is hat day along with wear your favorite color for kindergarten and throwback for spirit week.
Thursday September 19th-All fundraiser orders will need to be turned in.
Friday September 20th- Half day dismissal @ 12:20 for DES. Parade starts @ 2:00
Reminder- DES spirit week starts tomorrow.
