Post 2 of our Fun week!

Post 1 of Superbird Week!!!
Thank you to all of our Denning staff for making this week so much fun for the students.

Our school has been focusing on the book "Be You" and the importance of being yourself.
In the Reading Room we read and did a project with the book "You Are Like a Seed" which unintentionally tied into our school theme. The moral of the book is that like a seed, we are born with everything inside us that we need to grow, learn and become exactly who we are meant to be.
As a project the students each chose a seed type and we planted, watered, and observed its change over time. Some grew quickly, some slowly and some have not developed YET. This is also true for us as humans. We all learn, grow, and develop at different rates to become who we were meant to be.
Also like our students and their clothing, some of the plants have outgrown their current pot and will need to be replanted with some fresh soil surrounding it. :)

Congratulations to these seven students for going above and beyond! These incredible kiddos displayed on going positive behavior and graduated from CICO!
Each student was announced, celebrated and earned donuts and a diploma. ❤️🩶🎓

Thank you for your donation towards the Sunshine Committee. We will shower our staff with something fun.

Kindergarten gave us a thumbs up on their lunch today! Thank you McDonalds for making 100 plus happy meals for these students. Rain may have kept us from the park, but it didn't keep us from having a fun lunch.

Ms. Melanie's class has worked hard reviewing the book Sloth Takes a Picture by Autum Bradley. They read the book, discussed the book, and wrote letters to the author. Thank you Autumn for sharing. 5 STARS!

Lost and Found!!
Let us know if you see anything your child has lost and not brought home.

Denning McTeacher Night was a success. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported your school! We brought back $1065.45.

Reminder for your special teachers and staff!!
Let's celebrate them.

From FCUSD 168 & FCHS: Due to the possibility of rainy weather, the Grand March before tonight's Prom has been canceled. Prom will go on at Yummy's Event Center in Marion. Doors open at 7:30 with Dance scheduled from 8-11 pm.

Some of the CJHS Beta students made some sensory boxes for some of our classes. These will help the students in so many ways. They use them to relax and learn.
Thank you CJHS

Celebrating Asher!
He was a rockstar this week. He made some very good choices and earned a himself an achievement award from Mrs. Lauryn!!
Way to go Asher

We have some pretty amazing student leaders and super writers at DES!

Celebrating the best! Giving a huge shout out to our MVP Staff Member, Mrs. Alecia Coffey! She is a warm hug and a kind smile to every student every morning and our go-to support. We are beyond thankful for everything she does big and small. ♥️♥️♥️

From FCUSD 168: We are watching the weather this afternoon as we get close to dismissal time. We will dismiss at our regular times, but may hold our school buses for a few minutes depending on the timing of the storm system that is supposed so come through within the next 30 to 40 minutes. Our schools remain some of the strongest and safest facilities in the community and we continue to work to keep our students safe.

Mark your calendar!

Denning Annual Egg hunt!
Thank you to the parent group/ Mrs. Brenda for hosting and gathering all of the amazing prizes.
The students had a blast!
We had a lot of excited students when opening their eggs.
Spring break has started. Enjoy and be safe. 🌼🌸

We can't forget the staff Egg Hunt!
Thank you to the Sunshine Committee for hosting the egg hunt this year.
No falls or broken bones, I think that's a win. We have some of the best team players.

Fun Friday Football Our students got to meet a few of the SIU football players. Several of our students got to ask leadership questions to each individual player. Our students had the best time learning how school is so important even as they grow older.
